Haha, yes that was a model Venus Fly Trap that the monks were peering into. They also had model carnivorous plants that you could climb into and have your photo taken which one of the American women did for me but too ridiculous to include in the blog!

A wonderful post again. I appreciated the photo of the long-neck Karen women whose images I'd seen as a young child long ago in Arthur Mee's Children's Encyclopaedia. It's sad if this tribe only continue with the practice as a tourist attraction as you say. In another picture there are two monks inspecting a Venus Fly Trap - but the plant is enormous - looking like something from The Little Shop of Horrors - I assume this is a large scale model not the real thing!
